Samsung opens ‘Easy Phone Sync’ app to help iOS users move to Galaxy products

Samsung wants you.
The South Korea-based Company is making it easier than ever to jump ship from iOS to its Galaxy line with the Easy Phone Sync app. The software is free to anyone purchasing a Samsung Galaxy device, and it quickly installs on any Galaxy product, PC, or Mac.

In the most straightforward manner, it transfers media, contacts, content—and all that other stuff packed into handhelds—from iTunes to an Android-powered tablet or phone by Samsung. Users can also manage their content through iTunes to maintain preferences during the sync process.

SAMSUNG CUSTOMERS NOW ABLE TO TRANSFER CONTENT FROM IOS TO ANDROID FOR FREE

Exclusive licensing agreement makes Easy Phone Sync available on Samsung Galaxy devices
22nd June 2012, London, UK – Samsung Mobile UK today announced it will be making Easy Phone Sync available for free to anyone purchasing a Samsung Galaxy device. Easy Phone Sync is a simple new way for people to transfer their iPhone and iTunes media – including music, videos, podcasts, pictures, contacts and text messages – to a Samsung Galaxy device including the new Galaxy S III.

As part of an exclusive licensing agreement with Media Mushroom Applications, Samsung is making Easy Phone Sync available for free for UK customers to transfer content from their iOS device to their Samsung Galaxy device in a few simple clicks. As well as being able to access DRM free content they have purchased from iTunes music, customers can continue to use iTunes software on their PC to manage their music, videos and podcasts and keep their Android device in sync with it.

Simon Stanford, Vice President, Telecommunications and Networks, Samsung UK and Ireland said: “We’re really proud to announce the launch of this new application and can’t wait to hear what our new and existing customers think of it. We know that traditionally iPhone users have been reluctant to switch to an Android device because they couldn’t use iTunes to manage their content. Easy Phone Sync means people can now enjoy their iTunes content on a Samsung Galaxy phone. What’s more is that it’s really easy for them to do, and literally takes five minutes to set up.”

Easy Phone Sync is available to download now for both PCs and Macs in conjunction with an app for Samsung Android devices.

For download and more detailed information, please visit www.easyphonesync.com/mobile.

How to upgrade your iPhone to iOS 6 in four steps

Apples iOS 6, the next major update to the iPhone makers mobile operating system, was unleashed yesterday evening.

Okay, so how do you get it?
First you need to make sure you have a compatible device in hand. iOS 6 will support the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and the new but as-yet-unavailable iPhone 5 (which will hit stores tomorrow), as well as the iPad 2, the new third-generation iPad, and the fourth-gen iPod Touch.

If your device isnt on this list, it wont be able to run iOS 6, and it might be time to consider upgrading to a new phone or tablet. Additionally, some of the devices that are supported wont get every single feature. For example, the iPhone 3GS wont have any of the new Siri features.
How to get iOS 6 in four easy steps

1. Update iTunes
If you havent recently updated iTunes, take a moment to check whether youre running version 10.7.
Launch iTunes.
Go to Help > Check for Updates.
You want to update iTunes if you use it to back up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. Backing up with iTunes has one very big advantage over backing up with iCloud: Space. With iCloud, you have 5GB of free space (with more available if you pay for it), but with iTunes and your own computer, youre likely to have a lot more room to save your phone or tablet data.

2. Back up your device
This step may be the single most important one to follow. Back up your stuff!
With the latest version of iTunes installed, you can go ahead and back up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch using iTunes. To do this, connect your device to your computer and launch iTunes. Make sure iCloud is turned off on your iPhone or iPad. You cant create backups using iTunes when iCloud is enabled. Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup, and turn off the iCloud Backup switch.

Then in iTunes, right click (or Ctrl-click) on your device, which appears in the leftmost pane under Devices, and select Back Up.
Alternatively, if you have enough space, back up using iCloud. Check out this article for full instructions on how to go about this.

3. Update to iOS 6
You can update to iOS 6 wirelessly, also known as over-the-air (OTA), which for most people with a good Wi-Fi connection will be the simplest method, but it could take much longer than the second method, which Ill explain afterwards.

On your device, go to:
Settings > General > Software Update
Youll see instructions there to download and install iOS 6.
Alternatively, you can update your software via iTunes. This is the method I used, and which I recommend.

Plug your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch into your computer with the USB cord and launch iTunes (if it doesnt open automatically). On the left side of iTunes, find your device, for example, "Jills Phone," and click on it.
In the centre of the screen, youll see "Version" and a button "Check for Update." Click "Check for Update" (see the above screenshot).

A dialog box will tell you that a new software version is available. Select "Download and Update" or just "Download."

Apple Reveals iCloud At WWDC 2011 And Its Free!

Apple has finally revealed iCloud at WWDC 2011. Steve Jobs defines this service as: "iCloud stores your content in the cloud and wirelessly pushes it to all your device. It automatically uploads it, stores it, and pushes it to all your devices." Managing content between our devices is never going to be the same again, thanks to iCloud.

iCloud will automatically store daily content such as your books, photos, videos, app data, music bought from iTunes and device settings via Wi-Fi. The Documents in the Cloud app will store projects that you make in the iWork suite and will sync it seamlessly across all your iOS devices.

PhotoStream is going to be a new gallery in the Photos app of your iOS device and will sync all the pictures that you take with Mac computers, other iOS devices, Apple TV and even Windows PCs. As soon as you take a picture on your iPhone, it will automatically be synced to other iOS devices, Mac computers and even Windows PCs as well as being stored in the cloud for 30 days.

iCloud will not be serving any ads to its users. iCloud is going to be offered free for all users and will be implemented in all devices running iOS 5. Users will get free storage of 5GB for contacts, mail and calendar. PhotoStream doesnt count.
